Tongue Tied (Manchester) Ltd has joined forces with Mary’s Meals to help raise awareness and set up more school feeding projects in some of the world’s poorest communities, where hunger and poverty prevent children from gaining an education.
Tongue Tied (Manchester) Ltd is currently running a social media campaign, for every “like” that their fan page (http://www.facebook.com/ttmltd) receives Tongue Tied (Manchester) will make a donation to Mary’s Meals. Tongue Tied (Manchester) Ltd are hoping to raise £5,000 for the charity from the campaign.
Richard Hale, from Tongue Tied (Manchester) Ltd, said that we want to help ensure that every child receives one daily meal in their place of education.
Working together with those who share our ideas, we believe there is no good reason why that vision can’t be realised.
Since we all have young children of our own, and knowing how much difference just a few pennies can make, we did not have to look far and decided that “Mary’s Meals” would be a great cause to support.
Mary’s Meals is a global movement that sets up school feeding projects in some of the world’s poorest communities, where hunger and poverty prevent children from gaining an education.
They provide one daily meal in a place of learning to attract chronically poor children into a classroom where they receive an education that can, in the future, be the ladder out of poverty.
Mary’s Meals began in 2002 by feeding 200 children in Malawi. Today it feeds over 654,000 hungry children every day in 16 countries across the world.
By buying food locally and thus reducing transport costs ( and boosting the local economy), getting the local community involved and keeping overall running costs low 93p of every £1 donated will be spent on their charitable work.
The Mary’s Meals Facebook page also contains information about their work, as well as images and videos and links to useful websites.
