Terminology in Translation

Although all our translators are specialists in their respective fields, it is naive to assume that any translator has dealt with every subject in his/her particular field. New developments, inventions and redesigns make it impossible for even the best translator to know (and therefore translate) all concepts and processes.

Maintaining consistent terminology is the main key to effective communication and good translations. We therefore ask our customers to provide us with glossaries, previous translations or related websites to assist the translator in remaining consistent with the usage of terms. On larger projects, that are assigned to a team of translators, this will ensure that, for example, the technical item in the first chapter of a technical manual will be the same as in the final chapter of the document.
